Ryan,
Just installed a Matrix 25 last night but haven't had a chance to use it yet as the puck adhesive is still curing. I chose the 25 over the single beam 15 because I fish lots of different environments(salt, fresh, shallow, deep, etc.) and so will need the dual frequencies. I have great expectations about the new technology/features of the Matrix and like the 240x240 pixel display. Also, the very small puck easily mounts way back under the seat where it's out of the way of storage and has the temp sensor on the bottom instead of the end or top like others (it's about time!). It's the 2nd Humminbird I have owned. We'll see how the Marrix holds up to kayak fishing over time.
This unit is the replacement for my 1 year old Garmin 160 Blue which was a good FF but did have what I felt were more malfunctions and breakdowns than were resonable. Also the puck was the size of a baseball so it was diffcult to mount and was always in the way. I can't say enough good things about Garmin's tech support. They were knowledgeable and quick to help get you going again but IMHO I needed to call them and get things fixed or replaced more than should be necessary. Just my own experience; your mileage may vary.
I'll post back here about my first impressions of the Humminbird Matrix 25 after some time on the water.
Best,
Keith
