AH means Amp Hour. You have been refering to a 12volt/7 amp hour battery. Basically, that means you can draw 7 amps for 1 hour or 1 amp for 7 hours or .25 amps for 28 hours, etc..
IMHO: a 7AH battery is overkill if all you are ever going to run is a fish finder that most likely draws somewhere between .20 and .25 amps. Also, a 7AH battery weighs almost twice as much as a 4AH model and costs more. That may not sound like a big deal now, but if you're like most people, the stuff you take with you keeps increasing little-by-little over time and it all adds up to a lot of extra weight to paddle around with. Saving pounds where you can is a good thing.
If you eventually plan to run both a FF and a bait tank, you may want to consider investing in a 12 volt/12 amp hour battery. You will have plenty of power for now and can wire both devices on one battery later; just a thought.
