Redondo Report:

Launched at 7:30 with Defjack and Greg-O from the Redondo Hand Launch. Greg and Jack wanted to troll some large Plugs for Halibut towards the north end of the breakwater from the outside, but my shoulder is still fubar so I told them to go and not to wait for me and that I would be heading out and doing some bounce balling with fresh dead squid.

The weather was beautiful and the was not even a hint of a breeze although there was a considersable swell. The lack of a breeze and NO current made bounce balling a bit difficult since there was absolutely NO DRIFT whatsoever and all I did was manage a great imitation of the worlds largest bobber. This lasted for about a half hour and gave me time for breakfast.

No sign of Greg or Jack anywhere but finally a hint of a breeze stirred and a great little drift started. Within 5 minutes I had landed my first Halibut of the day. A feisty little Shorty. Then I kept gitting hit for a bit before I finally managed to boat a Johnny Bass and a couple of nice Sandies.

All of a sudden I have Flower petals and weird dust like stuff all around me in the boat.

What the Hell?

Then I notice the name of the boat heading past me and back into the harbor.... The "Tribute". So I now have some guys "Final Wish" all over my boat. Big Fun.

Note to self... Pay closer attention to what is going on on the boats you drift past as it's kinda creepy having the Dearly Departed making dirty lines around the water line of your boat. EeYew!

Back to fishing. I then landed a nice 30" Butt, which Jack gave me greif over for letting go... but I still have plenty in the fridge. I then met up with Jack and Greg and the three of us Troll/Drifted for a bit until Greg took a hook through the hand while trying to release a 'butt he hooked and we all slowly made our way in.

All told I believe the count was 4 Halibut for Jack, 2 for Greg, 3 for me, along with many assorted Johnny Bass, Sand Bass, Lizard Fish and Snagged Sand Dabs.

Great Day with good friends.

Ric

P.S. Greg is OK. Well... as OK as Greg can be...

He took the hook through the fat part of the palm but managed to work the barb out without having to push it through and it cleaned up well.
