: : I LIVE IN HAWAII AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS TRIED THE HOBIE KAYAK WITH THE MIRAGE DRIVE TECHNOLOGY. I SAW A VIDEO WHERE ONE GUY USING HIS LEGS WAS ABLE TO PULL TWO GUYS PADDLING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. SEEMS TO ME THAT IF YOU CAN USE YOUR LEGS FOR PROPULSION, YOUR HANDS ARE FREE TO DO MORE. THE ONE I WAS THINKING OF GETTING IS THE HOBBIE MIRAGE OUTBACK. IT HAS BUILT IN ROD HOLDERS AND THE FLIPPERS. WILL TAKE FOR TEST DRIVE ON SATURDAY.
: : just wondering if those fins retract for beaching or going over the reefs. mahalo
I use the Hobie Mirage to fish the Atlantic out of Jacksonville, Fl. and have found it to handle just as good if not better than Hobie claims. The boat, with the fins feathered to the hull, will accomadate 6 inches of water. I do remove them before I come thru the surf.
Tight Lines.
