: Art-- Finally got a chance to stop by and try the Extreme at Malibu Kayaks' shop in Seal Beach. NICE BOAT! Have to agree that it is stable and fast, and tracks well without a rudder. Found it's about 15-20% faster than my FND, with absolutely NO loss in Stability.I'm sure this is the result of the longer water line and mini-sponsons designed into the hull edges, despite it being narrower than the FND. It was also a very dry ride.On the negative, I didn't like the sideway hatch right in front of the seat as you sit below its level, as well as place your feet below it. I'd still love to have a hatch there, so I will look into other options to install on the boat.Like a number of people in this industry, the guys at Malibu were friendly, and knowledgeable-- Rick is the kind of guy you'd fish with on the water. At this point I have to wait for finances to be right (just spent $600 on a new clutch for one of my kid's car), so I'll have time to mull over if the increase in speed is worth selling my FND.How are you cgoing to mount the FF transducer again?Jimm
Jimm,i too was concerned what the hatch's effect would be on my leg's.Thought it might cause circulation problems/discomfort after a few hours.Ive found it's not a problem at all, even after 4-5 hrs in the boat.I would still prefer it was turned the other way for easier in/out with my rod's but otherwise it's fine.Good luck!
