: Hey guys...I've got a quick question for anyone out there.I finally picked up a fisheasy 2 fishfinder and am wondering where the best spot for mounting it would be on an Ocean Kayak Scrambler. Also, how would you recommend storing the battery and components during launch and while out on the water.ThanksBrendan

I like mounting fishfinders as far infront of me as possible.

I place the battery in a tupperware container. I then wedge the container under the cup holder. It's usually a perfect fit (depending on which kayak). This works on Scupper Pros and eXtremes, I'm not sure about a Scrambler. It may take some stretching to reach the bottom of the cup holder from inside of the Scrambler's front hatch. It's only a few pounds, but I like the idea of having it towards the center of the yak for better weight placement and distribution.

I like mounting the puck towards the front of the yak. This way I see what's under the yak before I pass it. If you mount the puck directly beneath the seat, 9 out of 10 times, you've almost passed the metered area by the time you've interpreted the reading. If it's in front, you might have a second or two to adjust, stop, drop, etc on top of the potential hot zone.
