: : Wouldn't it be nice to have a bangstick when fishing for the biggies. Or just as reassurance when you get that "I'm in the presense of something really big" feeling. You know kinda like having a gun in bear country makes for a better nights sleep. Am I being paranoid? Are they legal and if so where do you get them. Any response would be appreciated. This post caused me to revisit a question from my first visit to the sight:Can anyone tell me what caused the hole in this sharks head?http://www.kayaksportfishing.com/photo_submissions/jeff%20krieger/rhyno_thresher%20thumbsup.jpgWhen we first saw the picture my friends and I wondered if you California guys carried hand guns while shark fishing.
That's Jeff "Rhyno" Krieger. If he wanted to, he could land the fish by taking a bite out of it. He doesn't need a gun. I would guess that hole was compliments of a solid gaff. It's possible the gaff was used to help land it or to help bring it on board. It's tough to lift a big thresher like that on to the yak. I know I've gaffed them after they were done in just to make for easier loading on to the kayak, and sometimes the car when neccessary.
