: I am looking to purchase a kayak that I can use for fishing in the sound, ocean, and lakes. I am around 6 foot 4 inches and weigh 250 lbs. I was going to buy the perception Bimini over the Tarpon 160 but then I saw some of the configurations on the OK Prowler. I would appreciate any feedback on the two in smoothness of ride, etc. Has anyone done a comparison?ThanksJIm
I have not done a comparison but I have paddled both. I paddled the Binimi for a couple of hours; rented it thinking I was going to buy it for sure. I was kind of disappointed and shocked that I didn't end up buying it. It looked like the perfect kayak for me on paper but you gatta paddle every for yourself. This was a while back, before the prowler was out.
I test paddled the Prowler recently and I fell in love; it's in my garage as I write this. The Prowler is a smoother ride and faster I think. Both are pretty wet without scupper plugs but the Prowler is a little wetter. The Prowler is lighter and comes in more colors. The lay out of the cookpit is better also but the most important factor for me was stability. The Prowler was a whole lot more stable for me.
However, I'm nowhere as big as you so I can't really help you out there. I have heard that the Prowler center hatch foods if you are too big... anyone?I recommend the Prowler
