There are potential Lings in Diego. You can use a permanent marker like a laundry marker; mark one inch increments on your rail starting from the center of your seat or so. Keep in mind what side of the yak you feel most comfortable bringing fish to. I like using my strong hand. Since I'm right handed, I put the measurements on the right side.
YOu can get alluminum measuring bars at Home Depot. They are sometimes hard to find within the store, but they do have them. Get #10 3/4" Stainless tap screws. Get some stainless washers too. The bar comes w/ one hole. You'll have to drill one hole at least on the other side. They bow a bit so 1 more screw in the center will keep it flat. I put marine silicone around the metal edges so that fishing line won't get cut or trapped on the corners. It measures up to 38".
Lings need to be a minimum of 24" in order to keep them. They are also rare down there. Eagle Eye says he's gotten into the Lings there recently.
