Made a short run out to La Jolla, didn't have alot of time but couldn't stay off the water. Took 20 minutes to make 4 spanish macs. Started paddling through an incredible amount of loose kelp and grass, seeing a slick running E to W I decided to see if the other side was any cleaner. It was like a wall with clean blue water on the north side. Put 1 out paddling west along the slick 10 minutes later I'm on, took me right in to salad city. I was tearing kelp off the rod tip, passing it through stringers, paddling aroung paddies with the rod butt under my leg. Took me 45 minutes to finally land it(fought the kelp as much as the fish) and 200 yards from where I started. YT was 4" longer than my last one but only 1# heavier, 23# on 20# Big Game.
