I don't know the rules here. Have you fished many spots around here with the yak? I was thinking that area (avila) would be a good place for me to start since it's so usually so flat there. Any info/tips that you can give me are very much appreciated. I am a complete newbie to the kayak thing. Thanks.-cayucosjack
I haven't made it up to the Avila area since buying the kayak tey but it is one of my favorite places to fish and I can't wait to get out there to try it.
I've only just started (actually only been out once so far) and fished leo Carrillo and had a great day on the bass. So I may not be the one to give you too many pointers but I will tell you that i bought the kayak, put my gear on it and paddled it out and had a great day with no trouble at all.
I am fishing Leo this Saturday and may take my son (if he can get out of bed in time). April 1st is the first day of salmon fishing and there are a couple places in Ventura that are very close to shore (pitas point, oil pier area) than are good salmon spots so I will be trying to get one.
I also know that the Bouey just outside the harbor at Avila is a great place to target salmon so i will head up that way as well. i will let you know when I make it up so maybe we can hook up and fish.
