: Has anybody test driven the new malibu pro explorer kayak? I am trying to decide between the Malibu pro explorer or the ocean kayak scrambler. Any info on either kayak would be much appreciated, I will be useing the kayak mostly for fishing , thanks in advance. I also did not see anything on the malibu web site about scupper holes on the pro explorer, I fould this kind of strange, any info would be great.
I have one and love it. Though it's loaded with both the hatches. I'm not sure I'd be as fond of it without the hatches. The kayak paddles like a stable kayak, sorta slow (though faster than a Cobra Fish n Dive). If you put some force into it, you can get it to move when you need to. I had no problem cruising longer distances.
If you check the Product Reviews section, you'll see a review on it.
Great fishing platform. Incredible above and below storage.
Btw, they are scupper holes. The kayak is a very dry ride. There is only one hold for the seat. It drains very well and keeps you dry. I recommend a high back or some sort of pad underneath your kayak seat. The seat well sinks down a bit (for stability). It may affect a good paddling posture. If you can just raise up an inch or two, it would correct that.
