Crawdads do work great. Yes they are freshwater and won't stay alive very long in the marine environment, but you'll find they won't be down there too long before CHOMP!!!!

When I was younger, I lived on the east coast and we fished for a fish called Tautog, much like the Sheepshead. The choice bait there was crabs. Live or fresh dead, so see if you can catch some on your next Jetty trip and give it a shot.
