How to strap down a bucket in tankwell?

Was working my kayak setup last night, unfortunaly due to the lack of a large tankwell on the malibu pro explorer I opted to go with a white bucket instead of a crate to store my gear, I strapped down some 1 1/2 pvc pipe in the interior of the bucket and it seemed to work great, I also made some rod leashes out of telephone line, they look and seem like they will work great keeping my fingers crossed, the one problem I seem to be running into is on how to strap the bucket down the the tankwell without obstucting being able to take things in and out from the bucket with ease, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
