I made this rig to stop the line from going back upon itself and fouling my line. It is mainly a trolling rig and the benefit is that the tube keeps the middle swivel directed out and the bottom swivel holds the weight and slides down over the brass eyelet of the sinker to stop line from fouling again. It is a great rig and if you use one you won't go back. The really neat thing about it is that you can change your leader length on the fly and I have gone as far as 36 inches of leader. I use this for trolling for trout and have trolled from 8ft-60ft of water and can tell you it has never dissapointed me. I would use this rig for Stripers, Salmon, WSB, YT, Halibut or anything else that take a trolling presentation.
btw, fish do not get spooked by the rig and have had fish follow it up to the yak in full attack mode.
