Bait bucket??

Ok I have been fishing for like 25 years, but just starting out on the kayak... So with that in mind to protect my glass ego, I just bought a plastic bait bucket. My ? is should I drill holes in it to allow water to easily flow through it while it is hanging off the side of my kayak, or buy an aerator and keep it on board, or let it hang off the side floating on top of the water? Thanks in advance for all your expertise!!!!!!
