One of the easiest launches was shown to me by DefJack...it's right on the north side of the malibu pier. One time it was literally ankle high white wash. Jack said it's not as easy when there is a south swell and all the surfers take up the parking. DON'T go out alone!, hook up with some guys hitting that area for your first few times AT LEAST. It's not difficult, but you can learn alot of pointers, especially about coming back in...the harder of the 2 tasks in my opinion. One month in the harbor isn't all that much, I spent 5 months almost 1 day every weekend at Redondo, and I've been fishing since I was 5 and am now 33. Of course I paddled out of the harbor and experienced the wind, current, and swells early on, so I only had to learn to launch and land.
: Can anybody tell me of an easy surf launch area b/w Malaga Cove, south of Redondo and State Line where I can get into some kelp and structure.Been fishing Harbors for a month now and want to get out to see some sights and fish in some kelp beds, but have never launched in the surf. The swell direction is W-NW and 2-3ft, I believe.
