There are more than 20 of these out there, that I know of, and they work perfectly with no dragging stuff and can be built for under $30, including the battery, in less than an hour.
This system is foolproof and flexible.

I asm going to update soon myself with my through-hull marine deck power supply and variable speed control system. I have used it over thirty trips now so am reasonably confident it is a winner.

Every one brings a new twist on things, and learns a thing or two...like the need for a drain that can be accessed on the yak, before surf landings, for instance!
