: Went out to Newport Harbor instead of Huntington. Thanks Jerm for the advice! Fished Fish Traps in 3.5" inside the Harbor by the boat docks and was getting short bit all morning, does anybody have this same problem? I didnt' have any grubs with me. Made my way out to the mouth of the Harbor and caught several mackeral. I wanted to troll these outside for something, but was not sure how to rig them. Can anybody tell me how they rig live mackeral for larger species? These were pretty big, 10"-12". Cut up the mackeral instead and fished inside for a short halibut. Nice day on the water none the less.

Kev,

The best bait to use for drifting or anchored up inside the harbor and outside of it as well that I have found is live ghost shrimp just about all predators pounch on them you can get them by the dozen at the corner of PCH and Seal Beach Blvd. at Norm's big fish and tackle. For artificials I have found that rubber swimbaits that are silver with some blue or green mixed in them work well and also scampi tail rubber swimbaits.

Jeff
