: I'm new to ocean kayak fishing; just got a Malibu 2 a couple of weeks ago. The M2 has small hatches, too small to place a live bait bucket in there. How do some of you solve this problem?

: I was thinking of towing a live bait bucket with small holes drilled in it, but I'm afraid this might attract sharks. Is this fear warranted?

I haven't added a real tank with a pump, but have had great success with a much simpler set up. I use the good old-fashioned 5 gal. bucket. It holds 5-6 macks with no problem. Along with the bucket, I bring a plastic 64 ouncer cup, but any plastic cup will do. Every 3-4 minutes, I take out two cups of water and pour two cups back in. It adds plenty of circulation. I almost never lose bait. And usually when I am soaking a bait I'm going slow enough where it is not a problem to recirculate new water. I usually just straddle the bucket while fishing, then bunji it behind me when going thru the surf.

: Thanks in advance,
