6:30am-8:00am Sign In at Doheny You may launch as soon as you sign in. The 2-hour sign in window is there to accommodate late arrivals. Artificial baits only! Scent is ok. You are required to have a live well, large mesh game bag or floating basket. Permitted bass species are spotted, sandbass and calicos. 7:00am-1:00pm Bass Weigh Boat The weigh boat may be contacted by either vhf radio or cell phone. The boat will not weigh any bass inside of the harbor. Nor will it go inside of the restricted vessel buoy line. You will still be required to have a fish basket, livewell or game bag to safely store the fish until the boat can be flagged or hailed (raise and waive your paddle up in the air as he nears). The cut off time for the bass weigh boat is 1:00pm. The boat can of course only be in one place at a time. It's the kayak angler's responsibility to anticipate this. If you're planning on using the weigh boat, please don't wait until 12:30pm to contact him especially if you're quite a distance away from Doheny and the Dana Point Harbor entrance. At 12:30pm, if he's not there already, the weigh boat will head back towards the vicinity of the south side (Doheny side) of the harbor entrance. This offers anglers with bass still requiring submission an approximate area to paddle towards as time is running out. If there's a backup of kayak anglers at the boat just before the 1:00pm cut off time, anglers within 10 yards of the boat by 1:00pm sharp will still be allowed to submit their bass for weigh in regardless of the 1:00pm cut-off time.No more than 10 bass total may be submitted for weigh in throughout the day. All bass must be alive in order to be weighed and released. Anglers must release their bass upon after the weights are recorded. Heaviest 5 bass combination wins (we total the weights of your 5 heaviest bass). There will also be prize placement for 2nd through 7th place.Click for Area Photos The standing results and awards presentation will be held at Doheny State Beach area #12 starting at 2:00pm. II.
