Finally it came. The rockfish opener.

Everybody had a great time.

First day- Fog was heavy. Decided to fish out front
(at Cambria) with Jason and Jonny Sabiki (I mean Jonny ceviche)
while my other 3 friends Errol, Rusty and Donnie,
went up the line a bit. Fishing is generally better up there. But the chances of reds seem to be better out front. Thats what I wanted.
It wasn't wide open but we did catch plenty of lings
and only a couple of reds between us.
Evidently the local commercial live fish guys had that
place just littered with their live fish bouys for the
past couple weeks.
The other 3 guys had even better fishing up the way with
more lings and reds and Donnie caught a #25 halibut.
fished til about 2 when the breeze came.

Second day- fished Cambria again. No fog. Usually means early wind. Jonny and Jason stayed out front and the rest of us went up. It was a total ling fest up there. Every spot we fished we caught lings. I ended up with 6 reds too. And of course you always catch a ton of goghers and some sugar bass and others.
Donnie and I also caught huge Cabezons. Those pull better than lings.
Could only fish til about 1 due to breeze.

Day three- Rusty and I were the only ones left.
We decided to fish somewhere we hadn't fished before
so we drove up to Limekiln. Couldn't get in there because it was too full.
So went went back down to Mill Creek. Great launch site. Very small surf and fog clearing. We didn't know the area and had no meter so we just started blind fishing. I got lucky and found a 12lb halibut right off the bat. We didn't find anything else right away
so we decided to paddle up. We ended up past Limekiln
to a point with a big white side and beautiful caves.
That are is so flippin beatiful. Pine trees right on the Cliffs. Naked girls every where. Ok, no naked girls but it was amazing.
Finally found a bunch of lings and 1 more red and a bunch of other rockfish and I found one more halibut
about 8lbs.
The water totally glassed off and was too hot to wear even a t shirt. Made the slow paddle back and met some
cool locals fishing out front of the launch catching
lings and RF. Right in the thick bullkelp.
It was a 10 mile paddle on day three so we were pretty
tired. Fished til about 3 or so.

Brought home 30lbs of fillets.
Now back to catch and release for awhile.

Thats my story and I'm stickin to it.
Can't wait to go back!
