All Purpose Bait or Circle Hooks?

I have been fishing with Owner’s Cutting Point bait hooks and loved them. I have not used circle hooks. A while back, I purchased two packages of their circle hooks, but I have not used them. I guess I am confused as to the merits, if any, of using a circle hook on live bait, whole dead squid and squid strips.

What do you feel are the drawbacks of the circle hook relative to missing the strike? Do you find that you miss more or less strikes when fishing with the circle hook? Is it more difficult to get a hook set with the circle over the standard hook?

I realize the merits of how the circle hook reduces fish mortality for released deep-hooked fish. A Maryland DNR study found that 9.1% of released deep hooked striper died compared to 0.8% for offset circle hooks. http://www.dnr.state.md.us/fisheries/recreational/crsb.html.

Anyway, I would appreciate your opinion.
